The board was also authorized to advertise a bid for a new school bus.(Video interview included.) The board has decided that they will be placing a renewal levy on the ballot in November. The levy, which will provide for current operating expenses for the district, has been in place since 1986 and has been renewed seven times since then. Given the country's current economic situation, the board was very pleased to be able to ask for a renewal levy rather than a replacement. Board President Tim O'Rielley said, "I think the community will be pleased," that is, with no new monies being added to the levy. Watch Treasurer Keith Krieger discuss the details of the levy. The 6.05 mill levy would commence in 2009 and would not exceed that rate for at least 3 years. In other board action, the resignation of Matthew Wilson as Middle School Intervention Specialist was accepted. Kimberly Cotterman will be a new Middle School Intervention Specialist in the upcoming school year while Michael Hassel will move to Elementary Guidance and Heather Woessner will be teaching Kindergarten at Northeastern Elementary. The board will be searching for a new school bus through the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council to advertise and receive bids. Although the board passed this resolution, this does in no way obligate the board to purchase a bus at any time. The Bellefontaine School Board will meet again on August 11th at 6:30 p.m. at the board office on Ludlow Road. |
