Superintendent Kim Davis and Treasurer Eric Adelsberger both received their annual evaluations and had their salaries approved at the meeting. The board also approved the establishement of the Pat Roby Endowment Fund. Roby worked for OHP for 34 years. (Audio interviews included.) Roby established this fund upon her retirement from Ohio Hi-Point this past May. Roby initiated a very distinctive endowment which helps teachers continue their education, as opposed to the usual use for endowments in student scholarships. Listen to Treasurer Eric Adelsberger discuss why this is a unique contribution. Director Nila Marquard was pleased with the establishment of this fund and also expressed that she truly enjoyed working with Roby the last few years. Hear Marquard talk about the impact Roby is making even after retirement. Marquard also adressed the board at Wednesday night's meeting to share the success and knowledge gained from attending a National High Schools That Work conference held in Nashville, Tennessee July 9th-12th. Marquard and several teachers from OHP attended various sessions at the conference on curriculum and other areas of education. In other board action, two new high school instructors were hired. Sharon Maurice was hired as the new instructor for the Supply Chain Management Satellite program in Urbana while Laura Donnelly was hired as an instructor for the Health Technologies program. Superintendent Davis and Treasurer Adelsberger received "excellent" evaluations from the board. After the meeting, Board President Anne Reames commented: On Kim Davis:
"Kim Davis received an overall excellent evaluation by the Ohio Hi-Point Board. She was commended for being visionary and always in touch with new innovations in career-technical education. Kim encourages the use of the campus, and we feel we have a 'user friendly' campus because of that. Her commitment to the students, to developing staff, and her presence in the five counties we serve has brought strength and recognition to Ohio Hi-Point. Her energy and commitment are immeasurable."
On Eric Adelsberger:
"Eric Adelsberger also received an overall excellent evaluation by the board. Our board appreciates his leadership skills and his fiscal responsibility. He sets a high standard for school treasurers to follow and always takes the time to mentor OHP staff on financial matters and works closely with each program and department to assist them in their budgeting." The next regular meeting of the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Joint Vocational Board will be Wednesday, August 27th at 8:00 p.m. in the Hi-Point Inn. |
