Discussion of plans for the Town Hall Restoration are underway, with a meeting scheduled for Thursday evening.

Police Chief Ron Murray addressed council for several different issues.

Repairs to Pickrelltown Road and Baird Street were discussed. Some vehicles have been damaged after traveling on them. (Audio interview included.)

Council and those at the meeting also talked about the nuisance of a migrating bird population that has plagued the area for several summers now.

The particular breed of birds, which have been migrating in the summer to the West Liberty area for about 3 years now, have been a topic at previous council meetings. Council believes the birds are a health hazard, a noise nuisance, and an overall danger.

Chief Murray said that based on past years, the birds will likely be in the area through Labor Day.

Listen to Murray discuss some of the possible solutions he has been researching.

In other news, council was presented with plans for a new newspaper to begin being circulated weekly in the towns of West Liberty, DeGraff, and Quincy titled The River Current.

The River Current will be mailed free to West Liberty residents and available free of charge at various locations. Editors of The River Current plan to make the articles completely resident-written with the submissions coming from local residents for local residents.

West Liberty Council will meet again on August 11th at 7:30 p.m.
