Bellefontaine Assistant Fire Chief Dwayne Dow says firefighters responded around two-thirty this morning.
Owner Sandy Musser reported seeing a glow behind the home.
After getting closer, she noticed the fire near a frequently used propane grill. (Pictures included.) The blaze then spread up the back wall of the bed and breakfast.
Dow says the fire did about $10,000 worth of damage. Musser said the grill was used last night, but it was cool when it was put away.
No one was injured and fire crews were on scene for about two hours.
One extra shift was called in for station coverage.
Firefighters do not suspect foul play. Musser thanked the firefighters for their quick response and all of the local residents that inquired about the fire. She met with insurance representatives this afternoon and said the business will be fully operational by Friday. The Whitmore House is located at 3985 State Route 47 West. The Victorian Home is 125-years-old.
