logan_county_health_district.jpgThe Logan County District Board of Health met earlier this week and continued their plans for possible cuts if the levy request fails this November.

If Logan county voters do not pass the health districts 1-mill, 10-year operation levy this fall, then the agency will be forced to receive inside millage determined by the budget commission using a revised operation budget.

Members have approved a revised budget for 2009.

The health district currently receives approximately $800,000 per year through the tax levy, which expires at the end of the year.

The proposed replacement levy would generate approximately $900,000 per year.

Estimated inside millage amounts the agency could receive for 2009 operations if the levy fails, would range from $300,000 to $900,000.

If inside millage were to be used for operations, the result would mean less money to the general funds for township and municipalities across the county.

The board also approved the agency's revised job descriptions with possible cuts if the levy fails that would primarily effect positions of nursing programs and clerical operations.

The next board of health meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd at 1:00 p.m.
