ohio_ag_new_license_plate.jpgOhioans now have the opportunity to show off their support for the state's No.1 industry and help pave the way for future leaders wherever the road takes them.

With funds generated by sales the new Ohio Agriculture license plate, scholarships will be awarded to select students studying agriculture or a related field at an Ohio institution of higher learning.

Ohio House Bill 293, sponsored by Rep. Bruce Goodwin, Defiance, established the plate, which pays homage to the Buckeye State's agricultural heritage and an industry annually providing $93 billion to its economy.

Available now at Bureau of Motor Vehicle locations throughout the state, the plate is $30 more than a standard plate, with $20 going to the scholarship program.

"This is a great way on a daily basis to promote our industry, farmers and rural Ohio, while at the same time providing scholarship funds for some future leaders who are interested in our industry," OFBF Executive Vice President John C. (Jack) Fisher said.  "By bringing together many opportunities we are keeping Ohio agriculture and our food-producing capabilities in front of our consumers."

A board of representative from the Ohio agriculture industry will disburse scholarship funds.

For more information or to order the Ohio Agriculture license plate, visit www.ohiobmv.com or your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
