Gloria's Tumbling shines at national meet Print E-mail

gymnastics.jpgNine members of Gloria's Tumbling Team competed in the AAU Junior Olympics held in Detroit, Michigan July 30th through August 2nd. There were 12 states participating and about 500 competitors. 

Ohio placed 2nd as a state in Double Mini and 3rd in Trampoline.  Special awards were presented to Jennifer Colby and Madisyn Norris for their high scores in the prelims on the trampoline while  Madisyn Norris and Kayli Gonterman received awards in Double Mini.

Many other participants received awards as well. The Amber Delancey Memorial Award and the Joe Filipic $500 Memorial Scholarship were presented to Brianne Britton. Lindsay Eckurd and Jennifer Colby received a gold medal for their performance in the Synchronized Trampoline.

Individual results include  Khierstyn Branan, placing 4th in Tumbling, 10th in Trampoline and 11th in Double Mini; Layne Mentzer placing 6th in Tumbling, 12th in Trampoline, and 12th in Double Mini. Madisyn Norris placed 4th in Tumbling, 7th in Trampoline and she received a Bronze medal in Double Mini. Kerri Meade won Silver in the Tumbling competition and placed 6th in both Trampoline and Double Mini. Jennifer Colby took 6th in Tumbling and placed 5th in Trampoline and Double Mini while Kayli Gonterman was presented with a Silver medal in tumbling, placed 6th in Trampoline and 4th in Double Mini. Robbie Herring placed 6th in Trampoline and 4th in Double Mini while Brianne Britton received 4th place in tumbling and 5th in both Trampoline and Double Mini. Taking home three medals in all three events was Lindsay Eckurd. She received Bronze medals in Tumbling and Trampoline and Silver in Double Mini.

Gloria's Team will host their next competition, which will be October 18th at Bellefontaine High School.
