Mayor Adam Brannon discussed a dilapidated building that has been in Bellefontaine for decades. A resolution was passed regarding the old Railroad YMCA building located at 240 West Columbus Avenue in Bellefontaine. The building and property is owned by the city and the county. (Audio interview included.) The condition of the building is in poor shape; it looks run-down and is missing many window panes. Brannon also reminded council that there is a Health District levy coming up this fall. He stated that if the levy fails, there would be a $500,000 total loss to Logan County with Bellefontaine City footing $110,000 of that total loss. Also at Bellefontaine City Council, West Liberty-area resident Donald Bradley addressed the council, administration and audience to talk about his decision to run for Logan County Commissioner this fall. Bradley said that his platform will be based on the need for jobs in Logan County. He is running as an Independent candidate on the November 4th ballot. Law Director Howard Traul updated council and concerned citizens on the reported noise issue. Traul has called a meeting with the rules and safety committee chairs, Chief Kunze, and City Prosecutor Bill Goslee to discuss a noise ordinance. Mayor Brannon is hopeful the noise situation can be resolved in the next month. The next Bellefontaine City Council meeting with be Tuesday, Septmeber 9th at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers. |
