A Lakeview man was indicted Wednesday on one count of aggravated murder with gun specifications.

Carl Hopkins, 45, was indicted by a Logan County grand jury.

On August 9th, Hopkins called 911 and said he shot and killed his best friend, James Lynch, shortly after 9 p.m.

Lynch, 48, of Springfield, was shot in the chest at close range by a 12-gauge shotgun at Hopkins' residence.

Hopkins was arrested and charged with one count of murder.

He remains lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Authorities report that Hopkins fired the shot after feeling threatened during an argument with Lynch.
