The board was shown a presentation that included their new marketing and advertising in a new commercial and posters that will be featured on billboards.

Director Nila Marquard also reported a good start to the 08-09 school year as the first full week wrapped-up. (Video interview included.)

Watch Marquard discuss rising enrollment at OHP.

Ohio Hi-Point is serving a total of 678 students across 18 school districts this year with numbers continuing to grow as more students are enrolling every day.

678 students is an enrollment increase of 8% since the 07-08 school year.

Superintendent Kim Davis that this increase, "speaks well for our programming."

Shane Haggerty presented the board with new advertisements to be used in recruiting for OHP.

The new slogan for Ohio Hi-Point will be, "OHP: Engaging Minds and Changing Futures," an update from the old logo of, "Education with a Difference."

Superintendent Davis informed the board that due to contract language with House Bill 264, the Honda Homecoming Vendor EXPO, held on OHP's Bellefontaine campus the past two years, would no longer be permitted to be hosted here.

"Since we have entered into our ‘Green' projects promoting a more energy-efficient and eco-friendly campus, there are certain restrictions placed on us by HB264. We can no longer allow events and activities on our campus that make profits for a business, which relates directly to the vendor fair," offered Davis, who made it clear OHP would be glad to continue to host other activities related to the event in the future.

"The planning committee let me know that they were very grateful for the use of our property during the past two years," continued Davis.

On Friday, September 5th, Davis noted that Ohio Hi-Point will host new Urbana University President Dr. Steven Jones. Dr. Jones and his wife will tour the campus and then hold a meet-and-greet event in the Urbana University branch campus building located on OHP's Bellefontaine campus.

"Dr. Jones is very interested in learning more about Logan County, and we will be happy to offer our campus as a place for him to get to know more about us," said Davis.

Ms. Davis and Ms. Marquard also reminded the board that the early-release dates for Ohio Hi-Point have been moved. A revised calendar will be available soon.

The next regular session of the Ohio Hi-Point Joint Vocational Board of Education will be at the Hi-Point Inn on September 24th at 8:00 p.m.
