"If you're going to play the game, play to win," Bellefontaine High School Band Director Joe Antram told Kiwanis members Thursday afternoon. (Audio interview included.)
Antram, who has been Bellefontaine's Band Director for the past 22 years, spoke to the Bellefontaine Kiwanis Club about the band's longtime success, including their fifth trip to play in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade coming up in November. The trip also includes several days of sightseeing in Philadelphia and New York City.
Antram says contests and events like this are important because they provide goals for students to strive toward. There are several ways for community members to help students with the cost of the trip. Mr. Antram has more on the specific details.
Antram added that students enjoy representing their high school and state at the parade. Commenting on others' reactions to the Bellefontaine squad, he said, "They don't know where Bellefontaine is, but they know what we do is important." |
