Treasurer Cordray speaks at the Logan County Fall Democratic Dinner.
State Treasurer Richard Cordray made a stop at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center on Tuesday evening.

Cordray took time from his campaign for attorney general to have dinner with fellow Democrats at the annual Logan County Fall Democratic Dinner.

Cordray's speech was centered on the troubled economy. (Audio interview included.)

Cordray spoke of the $700 billion bailout plan that was put to vote and failed in Congress on Monday. He said, "We do need to act, but you cannot give one person $700 billion to spend without some type of oversight."

Cordray also said that there needs to be "limited CEO compensation, and in times of trouble they must sacrifice."

When asked about the economy and stability of Ohio Cordray said, "The money that the state has in the state treasury is safe."

He also said Ohio investments did not include any of the banking institutions troubled on Wall Street.

Cordray said, "It's important to have an attorney general who can work through the mess in the financial markets and hold people accountable for things that have been done improperly, fraud or any sharp dealings."

Cordray said, "The attorney general needs to stand up for the people in our state and I will do that."

The treasurer was in Akron, Canton, and Mansfield earlier in the day.

Cordray is running against Republican Michael Crites for the vacated attorney general position that Marc Dann left earlier in the year.

Early voting started in Ohio today.

There is a window between Sept 30th and Oct 6th to register and vote at the same time.
