Troopers from the Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Knight Road near Middle Urbana Road in Champaign County.

At 10:16 Saturday evening, Randy A. Koehler, 41, Urbana, was driving a 2004 Polaris Scrambler eastbound on Knight Road. Koehler failed to maintain control, overturned, was completely ejected, and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Koehler was not wearing a helmet and the use of alcohol is being investigated.

Care Flight transported Koehler to Miami Valley Hospital.

He passed away Sunday afternoon.

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office and Urbana Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
