Shady Bowl Speedway closed out the 2008 season with a great night of speed and fun Saturday.

Three classes of stock cars plus the crowd pleasing boat and trailer race brought down the curtain on the season.

The Modifieds were on hand to run a 25-lap feature with fourteen cars taking the green flag.

Columbus driver Arnold Muncy took command at the drop of the green flag. Muncy set his sights on his first-ever Shady Bowl win as he was pursued by teammate George Lindsay. It seemed like a one-two finish by the duo before fast qualifier Chad Poole began making his way to the front. Poole soon overtook both Muncy and Lindsay in his Nationwide Tree Service mod. Poole then went on to post the win, marking the 11th win for the Springfield resident at area ovals in ‘08. Muncy held on for second, with Lindsay third, Joe Pequinot fourth, and Caleb Rashar fifth.

The Sport Stocks were also on hand to run a 20-lap feature.

Fast qualifier Shawn Stansell of Dayton powered his Replacement Auto Parts Camaro to the win. Stansell dedicated his win to his aunt, Kim Stansell, who passed away recently and was one of his biggest fans. Donnie Hall was second, but forgot to report to the scales after the race and was disqualified. Larry Adams, Chad Fisessinger, and Jeff Ellis rounded out the top five.

The 20-lap Compact main was won by Piqua's Josh Sage in his Dodge. Sage dedicated his win to longtime Shady Bowl Speedway employee Rick Hensel, who's been battling serious health issues. Justin Pope was second, followed by Jerry Ellis, Jr., David Yoder, and Justin Durflinger.

The crash-filled, action-packed trailer race was won by Kevin Freistuhler of Sidney in his A.R.M.S. Towing backed pickup truck. Jeff Kimes took second.
