The Penn State senior outside hitter was named the Big Ten Player of the Week late Monday. Fawcett powered her team to a pair of conference wins last week, helping the Nittany Lions stay undefeated in matches as well as sets. Against Indiana on Wednesday, the senior put down 13 kills on a .450 hitting percentage, also contributing one block, one assist and a match-high nine digs. Facing Michigan State on Saturday, Fawcett recorded a match-high 14 kills on .545 hitting with two assists, two service aces, and five saves. On the week she averaged 4.5 kills and 2.3 digs per set on the strength of a .500 hitting percentage. The weekly honor is Fawcett's third this season and the eighth of her career, tying her for second all-time in the Big Ten. |
