The Bellefontaine varsity boys team defeated Graham 5-1 at Dodd Stadium. Robbie Ball led the attack with two goals and an assist. Kraig Strayer recorded a goal and an assist. Jordan Price and Nate Dolan each added a goal. The Chiefs are 7-6-2 overall. They will visit Tipp City Wednesday night. The JV Chiefs won 3-0. Cameron Crain, Conner Kellogg, and Justin Frantz scored. Head coach Steve Henry said, "We really needed this win. Our confidence was down a little after the last 3 games, and we needed to find some offense to help us out. We changed a few players around, and I think that helped to put some bounce back into our step. Robbie and Kraig were really active, and our midfield as a whole played much better tonight. We'll try to build on this when we travel down to Tipp City on Wednesday." The Benjamin Logan varsity boys team lost 5-1 against visiting Fairbanks. The game was tied 1-1 at the half, but the Panthers took control by scoring four second half goals. Chris Jaunzemis scored off a Logan Leis corner kick for the Raiders. Benjamin Logan drops to 8-7 while Fairbanks improves to 11-0-3. Benjamin Logan will host Indian Lake on Wednesday. It will be Senior Night. Coach Hughes said, "We lost to a very good soccer team tonight. We did well to be tied 1-1 at the half and early in the second half we applied a lot of pressure and had 4-5 corner kicks and I thought we would get the go-ahead goal but they defended well and rode the tide. When they went up 2-1 on our miscommunication we dropped our heads a bit and we should know better. We need to fight back and instead we let them keep coming at us. Hopefully, we can put this game out of our minds because we have an important game on Wednesday against the Lake and then the tournament starts next week." The Indian Lake varsity boys lost 3-1 at Springfield Shawnee. Alex Contner scored for the Lakers. Indian Lake is 4-8-3. The JV Lakers won 2-0. Chase Vance and Jared Phelps scored. In varsity girls, Bellefontaine lost 3-1 at Graham. Standout Morgan Wilcoxon scored on a direct kick for the Chiefs in the second half. BHS is 8-7 overall and 6-4 in the CBC. The JV Chiefs fell 3-2. Brittany Lantz and Bailey Maier each had a goal. Tyleigh Ward recorded an assist.
The Indian Lake varsity girls soccer team tied Springfield Shawnee 1-1. Senior Ashley Oakley scored for the Lakers. Keeper Brittany Roby had 16 saves. Coach Rice said, "Both teams came out with high intensity and desire to win. The match was competitive and even throughout the entire 80 minutes. Coach Cramer and I feel that our girls played well and made improvement from last week. We are maintaining our high hopes and plan to do well in our final game and in the tournament." |
