Bellefontaine and Indian Lake run to 2nd place in league cross country meet Print E-mail

The Tipp City boys and the Tecumseh girls raced to first place team finishes.

The Bellefontaine varsity boys team placed 2nd out of 12 schools.

Here are individual results for the Chiefs out of the 107 runners:

Hatcher and Price earned 1st team all CBC honors. Cornell missed by 1 place, earning 2nd team honors along with teammate Todd White.

The Chiefs will run at the district meet at 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

The Benjamin Logan high school boys finished in 4th place with 202 points in the Mad River division.

Logan Leis earned all league honors by finishing 14th in 17:07. Also, scoring for the team were Tyler Ahle (46th in 18:27), Zach Creamer (50th in 18:35), Cody Rees (56th in 18:47), Derek Hatmaker (61st in 19:06), Jake Penhorwood (64th in 19:10), and Kyle VanDyke (68th in 19:26).

Finishers for the team were Paul Larsen (70th in 19:28), Jarred Campbell (71st in 19:30), Joel Penhorwood (72nd in 19:35), Steven Watson (79th in 19:46), and Evan Daugherty (96th in 21:05).

The Benjamin Logan junior high boys finished in 3rd place with 132 points in the Mad River division.

David Wenger finished 5th in a time of 11:16 - the fastest 7th grader in the CBC. Also finishing for the team were Trent Rees (22nd in 12:52), Dan Kumher (44th in 13:43), Adam Kavanagh (50th in 13:56), Sean Daugherty (64th in 14:47), Logan Glauner (77th in 15:57), David Watson (79th in 17:06), Elijah Craig (82nd in 19:02), and Joe Kumher (83rd in 19:19).

The Benjamin Logan varsity girls team ran to a 4th place finish in the Mad River division.

Vanessa Wilkins finished 8th to lead the black and gold.

Freshman Courtney Forsythe was 11th.

Wilkins and Forsythe earned all-league honors.

Other placers included: MacKenzie Roebuck 52nd, Mary Kenoyer 56th, Hillary Lantz 64th, Brittney Poling 79th, Chelsea Self 84th, Morgan Cline 86th, Amy Price 89th, Brooke Poppe 94th, Nicole McNamara 97th, and Teryn Forsythe 98th.

The Benjamin Logan junior high girls finished 5th in the league meet.

Logan Dunn led the team with an 8th place showing.

Emmalee Rumney was 30th, Morgan Allen 31st, Amanda Frasure 35th, Madison Leis 47th, Katlyn Brogan 51st, Darien Pooler 55th, Kelsey Baughman 63rd, Haley Powers 72nd, and Jessie Dodson 88th.

The Indian Lake varsity girls team finished 4th out of 10 teams and runner-up in the Mad River division behind Northwestern.

Leading the way for the girls were sophomore Rachel Watt (4th with a time of 19:20), freshman Ashley Albright (17th with a time of 20:43), senior Aubrey Gardner (28th with a time of 21:15), freshman Kayla Beltz (31st with a time of 21:22) and junior Taylor Norviel (34th with a time of 21:39).

Rounding out the top seven were sophomore Emily Gardner (35th with a time of 21:39) and sophomore Robyn Zwiebel (46th with a time of 22:13).

Also competing in the race were senior Sarah Bell (51st with a time of 22:29), sophomore Melissa Bell (65th with a time of 23:32), freshman Ashley Kawalec (69th with a time of 23:47), senior Sarah Zbacnik (81st with a time of 25:28) and sophomore Haley Tron (87th with a time of 26:12).

Watt, Albright, Beltz, and Kawalec all ran personal best times.

Rachel Watt made 1st Team CBC.

Ashley Albright and Aubrey Gardner earned 2nd team all league honors.

The varsity boys team finished 11th out of 11 teams, but ran their best race of the year.

Leading the way for the boys were sophomore Neill Schwieterman (57th with a time of 18:52), junior Jacob Bickham (76th with a time of 19:41), senior Robb Long (81st with a time of 19:51), senior Kendall Sullivan (95th with a time of 21:02) and sophomore Nick Bozman (97th with a time of 21:22).

Rounding out the top seven were senior Jason Bryce (105th with a time of 25:31) and senior Chase Szima (107th with a time of 26:08).

Schwieterman, Bickham, Long, Sullivan, and Bozman all ran personal best times.

The Lakers will be back in action Saturday as they compete at the Division II District Meet at the Miami Valley Career Tech Center in Clayton.
