A few teams are having a great summer.
Youth softball finals: 8 and under: DeGraff II (Ron's Pizza) beat West Liberty I 12-6 recently. For Ron's Pizza, Hannah Kilgore and Kerri Meade both went 3 for 3 and Brittany Morris was 2 for 2. 14 and under: Huntsville I beat Quincy 16-6. For Huntsville, Kerstin Harmon and Megan Patton combined for 8 strikeouts. Shelby McIntire had a triple, Patton added a pair of doubles, Cassie Smith went 4-4. Chelsey Hoyles was 3-4, and Valarie Mahoney was 2-3. 12 and under: DeGraff #2 (Comer Insurance) defeated Huntsville #2 16-8. DeGraff #1 (McIntire Painting) ran past Lakeview 36-0. Tyler Lane was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts. Bailey Robinson had a home run, Christen Longbrake had a triple, and Lane, Katherine Faulder, and Courtney Hurley each added a double. West Mansfield outscored Zanesfield 17-16. Kaitlyn Miller and Deanna Shaw combined for the win on the mound. Zanesfield had 13 hits with Richard leading all batters. She went 3 for 3 with a single, a double and a triple. East Liberty/Middleburg beat West Liberty 16-3 last night. For East Liberty/Middleburg, it was a defensive game with Abbe Angle turning her 2nd double play in as many games. Cassy Vinson pitched a great game, only allowing 3 runs. Rachel Frazier had a solid game at first. Offensively, Alysa Kanevsky went 3 for 3 and Logan Dunn went 2 for 3. Andrea Corwin, Catty Orr, and Sierra Cronkleton added doubles. Youth baseball finals: Farm league: T-P Lanes defeated Kiwanis Club 13-2. T-P Lanes pitchers Will Jarman & Jordan Baughman combined for 7 strikeouts. Kiwanis Club pitchers Cody Hulinger & Tyler Shamblin combined for 11 strikeouts. There were many offensive standouts for T-P Lanes. Brady Levan (2-3) with a 3-run HR, Collen Pulfer (2-3), Christian Hill had a hit, & Zach Smith was (3-3). For Kiwanis Club, Clay Russell, Blake Carnes & Dorion Hughes each had hits. Washington I beat Belle Center 10-6 behind strong pitching from Kyle Overfield. |
