Heap of Help

Are you or someone you know fighting to make ends meet?  Struggling with your winter heating bills?  Do you have a heating EMERGENCY?  We can be a HEAP of help!

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (E-HEAP) begins November 1, 2015 and will run through March 31, 2016.  Income eligibility is 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines ($42,437.50) per year for a family of four).  E-HEAP provides financial assistance once per heating season to households that are: threatened with disconnection, already disconnected, or have less than 25% supply of bulk fuel, wood or coal.  E-HEAP can also cover assistance to establish or transfer service.

  • All social security numbers for every household member
  • All pages of your current electric and gas bill or information on your bulk fuel
  • All birthdays for every household member
  • Proof of ANY and ALL INCOME received within the last 13 weeks for all household members
  • If renting, lease agreement or rent receipt with landlord's name, address and phone number
  • Job and Family Services Case number
  • If disabled, proof of disability

Christmas in the Making

Women of all ages are invited to the Hardin County Homemaker’s Christmas Program, “Christmas in the Making”, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 9 a.m. –2:30 p.m., sponsored by the Hardin County Homemaker’s Council & Ohio State University Extension, Hardin County Office. Cost for the program and luncheon is $10 per person.  Cost for the program only is $5 per person.

The program will be held at Ada First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main St. Ada, Ohio. Lunch will provided by the Ada First United Methodist Church Women.  The menu for the luncheon is Ham Loaf, Cheesy Potatoes, Salad, Black Forest Dessert, & Beverages.


Registration on the day of the event will be hosted by the members of the Good Intentions Club.

Attendees will be welcomed by Council President Evelyn VanBuskirk and roll call will be taken by Council Secretary Janice Durenberger. This will be followed by the Installation of the 2016 Officers by Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Educator, Jami Dellifield


Programming will be provided by Ohio Northern University International Students from Brazil and Japan, “Christmas Traditions From Around the World”; Jami Dellifield, “Food for Parties and Potlucks; and New Leaf Garden Center’s Laurie Laird and Chelsea Boehm, “A Burlap Christmas”.


Musical entertainment will be provided by the JubilHeirs from Miss Vicki’s Music Studio and Ready, Set, Grow Preschool Students, both from Ada, Ohio.


Parking is at a premium at the church and carpooling is suggested. Ohio Northern University students will be offering valet parking and a shuttle service will be offered for those who park nearby.

Indian Lake Fall Chorale Concert

Indian Lake Local Schools will be holding several concerts over the Christmas season. These events will all be held in the Indian Lake High School Auditorium. 

Tuesday, December 1st at 7:30 pm - Fall Chorale Concert featuring grades 6 through 12

Donations to the Indian Lake Music Department will be accepted.
