According to authorities, a vehicle caught fire just before 6 p.m. on Monday while traveling eastbound on US 33, just west of US 68 in Bellefontaine.
The vehicle, identified as an early 2000s Subaru SUV, became fully engulfed in flames.
The fire is believed to have started in the engine compartment and quickly spread, resulting in a total loss.
Crews from the Bellefontaine Fire Department responded promptly and spent approximately 40 minutes extinguishing the blaze.
Bellefontaine Police and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol also assisted at the scene.
Traffic was temporarily stopped while emergency personnel worked to contain the situation.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and both occupants of the vehicle were able to exit safely.
While the official cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, investigators believe it may have been electrical.
