Deer causes weekend crash on Route 68

A local driver struck a deer and a utility pole on Route 68 near Township Road 190 Sunday morning around 3:20.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Todd Vestich, 48, of 161 Sidney Street, West Liberty, was driving a 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer southbound on 68 when he struck a deer, then went off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.

Initially, deputies were sent to an injury accident.

Vestich, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured.

His SUV suffered heavy damage.

Vestich was not cited.
