Road crews prepared for another tough night as a winter storm rolled into the area Tuesday into Wednesday.
Both ODOT and Logan County Highway Department Crews were prepared and ready to roll Tuesday evening.
ODOT had 13 crews scheduled in 12-hour shifts for at least 24-hours and Logan County had 13 territories running, which covered all the county roads.
With the harsher than normal winter salt has become a concern. Currently, Logan County has around 250 tons of raw salt and about 500 tons of mixed material on hand. County Engineer Scott Coleman estimates that the supply could last through ten to twelve more snow events.
ODOT is reporting that its salt supply locally and statewide is in good shape.
In the event of a shortage, ODOT is working on a multiagency supplemental contract for salt. The contract will also help the Logan County Highway Department.
Coleman would like to remind drivers not to go out unless it is necessary and if you do, drive carefully and go slow.
Coleman comments on the county's strategy.
ODOT Transportation Manager Tony Marotti discusses ODOT's plan.
