The Logan County Sheriff's Office has released details from the injury crash that closed Route 33 near Indian Lake Friday night around 6:30.
Deputies report that Ernest Mack, 50, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, was driving a 2009 International cargo van eastbound on Route 33 when he rear-ended two eastbound trucks stopped just west of Township Road 239.
Mack's van hit a 1984 Ford straight truck operated by Ronald Lininger, 54, of Wapakoneta.
The impact caused Lininger's truck to rear-end a 2008 Volvo semi driven by Charles Shreve, 53, of New Knoxville.
After striking Lininger, Mack's vehicle went into the left lane and struck the gas tanks on Shreve's semi, which caused a diesel spill.
Logan County Haz-Mat crews cleaned up the spill.
Lininger and a passenger in his truck, Roy Lininger, 37, of St. Marys, suffered minor injuries.
They were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital.
The other drivers were not injured.
Each vehicle suffered heavy damage.
Mack, who became distracted after dropping his cell phone, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
Route 33 was closed from State Route 708 to State Route 235 for about three hours.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene.
EMS crews from Indian Lake, BMRT, Huntsville, and Robinaugh assisted.
The Indian Joint Fire District and Lakeview Fire Department also responded.
The Washington Township and Russells Point Police Departments assisted.
