The BHS Band marched a step closer for their trip to Philly this fall.
Band members new and old enhanced their marching band skills in preparation for the upcoming year.
Band Fundamentals took place this week from 9-4 at Bellefontaine High School. The band members practiced Thursday for this year's halftime show. The day concluded with Bellefontaine Mayor Adam Brannon reading a proclamation declaring August 9th "Band Aid" Day in the city with a series of fundraisers.
Listen to Mayor Adam Brannon tout the trip.
The trip will take place in Philadelphia and New York City this November. The band will play in the Thanksgiving Day Parade and make several stops including going to Times Square, watching The Lion King on Broadway, visiting the Liberty Bell, and many other tourist attractions.
The goal today was to memorize music for halftime, and enhance playing and marching skills. The band will begin practicing the music for the Philly trip this fall. The theme for this year is "Fly Me to the Moon."
Aside from improving music skills, the band has done several fundraisers. Some of those fundraisers include selling Subway cards and working concession stands. The band will do several other fundraisers this summer and fall leading into the trip.
The Philadelphia trip has been a BHS Marching Band tradition for decades. The last time the band visited Philadelphia was 4 years ago.
