An area driver has been charged for causing a fatal crash in Union County earlier this year.
The Union County Sheriff's Office charged Kaleb Nebel, 20, of 32810 Wellwood Road, West Mansfield, with vehicular homicide Monday.
The charge, which is a first-degree misdemeanor, stems from a three-vehicle crash on State Route 31 north of Marysville on June 6th around 5:35 a.m.
Nebel was northbound on 31 when he fell asleep, then struck two southbound vehicles.
Nebel hit a 2004 Honda Pilot operated by Sarah Jackson of Mt. Victory.
Nebel's vehicle then struck a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country minivan operated by Oscar Hamby, 60, of Kenton.
Hamby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nebel and Jackson were transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County for non-life threatening injuries.
The three vehicles collided on 31 just north of State Route 347.
State Route 31 was closed for just over four hours.
Nebel is scheduled to be arraigned in Marysville Municipal Court on August 18th at 8 a.m.
Deputies were assisted by the Union County Prosecutor's Office.
