Congressman Jordan addresses Rotarians

Jim JordanCongressman Jim Jordan was the featured speaker at the Bellefontaine Rotary Club meeting Monday afternoon.

The Urbana Republican discussed the summer session in Congress.

He also discussed the importance of standing behind the Republican Party.

Jordan quoted Dick Armey, “When we act like us, we win; when we act like them, we lose.”

He added, “Do what you said you would do; we campaigned on certain things and now we need to follow through.”

Jordan discussed the Obamacare Repeal, noting six senators voted differently than they did a year-and-a-half before.

Jordan added that voters hate it when politicians say one thing and then do another.

He called for tax reform, but warned of the revenue neutral concept.

The conservative stated, “That's Washington speak for the lobbyist connected class getting a good deal and the middle class getting a bad deal. Since when did it become a bad thing to allow the people to keep more of their money?”

Jordan said DACA could be the catalyst to help get the border secured. He added it could also address labor shortages in other areas of the economy as well.

He closed by saying, “We also apparently have two standards under the rule of law: one standard for those named Clinton, Comey, Lynch and Lerner and another set for those of us who aren't. That's why they're going to keep investigating why Comey was told to refer to the Clinton email investigation as a matter and not an investigation. Why Lynch was using an alias in her email, why Cheryl Mills was given an immunity deal, etc. It just seems to me that if we're going to investigate possible Russian involvement into influencing the election, we should also investigate the Obama Justice Department and its role in influencing the election as well.”

Rotarians meet every Monday at noon at the Hilliker Y.

We encourage open dialogue among people who may disagree. Difficult conversations must be had sometimes to make progress. If you disagree, please disagree respectfully. Cruelty will not be tolerated. This is a family friendly group.
