Quincy Council reorganizes for new year

The Village of Quincy Council recently met for their first gathering of 2018.

Mayor Brian Carpenter requested a moment silence in respect for past council member Charles Morrison out of respect of his friendship, Joint Sewer Plant representative, and community-oriented involvement. Morrison passed away over the holidays.

The meeting consisted mostly of reorganization after two vacant seats were left unfilled following the November 2017 election.

The council unanimously voted to appoint Bruce Stotler to the first vacant seat and Daniel Robinson to the second vacant council seat. Both will fill the four year terms. Robinson was appointed president of the council.

They also allowed John Hickman a two month leave of absence.

Stotler was appointed to represent the village on the Joint Sewer Board for 2018. Kirk Helmandollar remains a representative as the Village Administrator. The DeGraff mayor is the chairman of the meeting and Sandra Ward is the Fiscal Officer for the 2018 meetings.

Concern was expressed about children and adults sledding on the hills in the downtown area of Quincy. Drivers are asked to be cautious of the East side of South Street and New Street as well as the cross section of Poplar Street between these two streets.

Their next meeting is January 16th at 7:30 p.m.

We encourage open dialogue among people who may disagree. Difficult conversations must be had sometimes to make progress. If you disagree, please disagree respectfully. Cruelty will not be tolerated. This is a family friendly group.
