Four young ladies to represent Indian Lake at Buckeye Girls State

AmstutzFour young ladies from Indian Lake High School will gain valuable experience in the operation of government and more at Buckeye Girls State this summer.

Raina Amstutz, daughter of Anna Reymiller of Huntsville; Lindsay Berg, daughter of Robert and Kathy Berg of Lewistown; Amber Seeley, daughter of Gary and Lisa Seeley of Lakeview; and Emaleigh Wallace, daughter of Steve and Amy Wallace of Lakeview have been selected to represent Indian Lake High School at the 2018 Buckeye Girls State held on the University of Mount Union campus in June.

BergAlternates are Belle Elliott, daughter of Dean and Sarah Elliott of DeGraff; Deanna Fry, daughter of Randy and Terri Fry of Huntsville; Ashlyn Huffer, daughter of Randy and Kim Huffer of Huntsville; and Tiana Hughes, daughter of Troy Hughes and Lisa Hughes of Huntsville.

Buckeye Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio. It is locally sponsored by the Huntsville-Indian Lake Lions Club, the Charles Collins Ladies Auxiliary Post 381, Huntsville Presbyterian Church, and an anonymous individual.

SeeleyParticipants must meet several qualifications. Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events, and have an above average scholastic standing. The young women must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills, and have a desire for learning.

The purpose of Buckeye Girls State is to educate young women from Ohio in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship.
