Finance ordinances set to shape the city’s future (Audio included)

Bellefontaine City Council adopted 15 finance ordinances Tuesday evening.

Three ordinances provided 2.5 percent pay increases for one year retroactive to January 1, 2018. The increases were for department heads/supervisors, service, and clerical staff.

An ordinance was adopted to set the budget for the year. The city has an $8.996 million general revenue with an $8.988 million general expenditure.

Two ordinances covered 2.5 percent increases each year for the city's safety services. Three-year agreements were approved with the International Association of Firefighters, Bellefontaine Chapter 351 and the Bellefontaine Chapter of the Ohio Patrolman’s Benevolent Association. The agreements run through the end of 2020.

Many ordinances were approved for city projects:

Contract with Jack Doheny Companies (Northville, Michigan) to purchase a vactor combination sewer cleaner

Authorize the loan of monies from Fund 615 Refuse to Fund 415 Capital Improvements

Contract with Bob Chapman Ford (Marysville) to purchase four vehicles

Advertise bids for the Township Road 179 and County Road 10 Water Line Extension Project

Advertise bids for the 2018 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project

Advertise bids for the Eastern Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Project

Advertise bids for the Dowell Avenue Improvements Project

Advertise bids for the 2018 Street Resurfacing Project

Advertise bids for the North Troy Road Sanitary Sewer Extension Project

Service/Safety Director Jim Holycross discussed the opening of bids for the third clarifier at the Bellefontaine Wastewater Treatment Plant on Troy Road. Five companies bid and two came in under City Engineer Tim Notestine's estimate. The project will be completed for around $305,000.

Bellefontaine City Council will meet again on March 27th at 7:30 pm.
