Indian Lake BOE approves three-year contract with ILEA (Audio included)

The Indian Lake Board of Education approved a three-year contract with the Indian Lake Education Association at the district's monthly meeting Monday night.

The teachers will get 2.5% raises in each of the next two years and a 2.7% raise in the third year. The insurance and benefit package remains similar to prior contracts. The teachers had gone three consecutive years without a raise and a couple of years where they only got a 1% raise. They aren't yet at the level that would compare favorably statewide, but the gap is closing.

The district has a 6.85 mill renewal levy on the May 8th ballot. No new money is being asked for. The millage generates over $2,000,000 yearly in revenue. If the levy fails, the issue would appear on the November ballot.

Kelli TebbeKelli Tebbe was approved as the new curriculum director. She is the permanent replacement for Kyle Wagner who moved to the high school principal position when Rob Underwood was named superintendent. Wagner will stay at the high school. Tebbe will save the district about $34,000 because she will also run the gifted program. She got a two-year contract. She lives in New Bremen.

The board approved supplemental, administrative, and several certified teaching contracts. Kyle Wagner got a three-year contract to continue his work as high school principal. The district has not posted the high school boys basketball position vacated by former coach David Starr, who resigned.

Seniors Melanie Watkins and Skylr Timbrook were recognized for earning their FFA State Degree. They will receive their award during the Ohio FFA Convention the first week of May.Timbrook (left) and Watkins

Treasurer Colleen Reprogle updated the board on the status of the five-year forecast. The first half settlement amounted to $100,000 more than expected. Plus, she told the board that she received $100,000 in tuition from students who live outside the district.

The board approved the the 2017-18 senior graduation list. Superintendent Rob Underwood told the board that the list is tentative because several students are taking alternative pathway tracks and still need to get their credits sorted. The list has to be approved in April because the seniors are scheduled to graduate on May 20th which is before the scheduled May board meeting.

Superintendent Rob Underwood addresses several issues.

The board will next meet on Monday, May 21st at 6:30 P.M.
