Teen airlifted following accident in Kenton

A Kenton teenager was airlifted following an accident on East Franklin Street (State Route 309) east of Washington Boulevard in Kenton Friday morning around 7.

The Findlay Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Hunter Lawrence, 16, was driving a 2010 Kia Soul eastbound on Franklin Street when he went left of center. He struck a 2012 Freightliner semi operated by Thomas Kuster, 60, of Madrid, Iowa.

Lawrence's vehicle went off the right side of the road and came to rest in a yard. The semi stopped on the roadway.

Lawrence was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected. He was taken by LifeFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Kuster was not injured.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage.

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Kenton Police Department, and Kenton Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
