The 14th Annual Logan County Relay for Life had Mother Nature on its side Friday as the event kicked off to warm temperatures, clear skies, and dozens of cancer survivors at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.
The annual event raises money for cancer research and for relief for sufferers in the form of medicines, transportation, and in many cases, food.
At left, Sasha Neer (center) poses with her grandmothers, Barb Neer (left), a 21-year cancer survivor, and Deloris McClain, a 19-year survivor herself. Sasha also reported that her dad, Mark Neer, has survived cancer for 14 years.
The Relay concluded Saturday with a garage sale.
This year's chairperson was Amy Brown while the honorary co-chairs were Miriam Baier and Mary Ann Prater.
Listen to survivor Kim Arbogast speak with Tom Stephens about the Relay and its benefits.
This year's goal is $136,000. Final numbers will be tallied later this summer.
