The Indian Lake Historical Society recently held its first general membership meeting of the year. Society officers were nominated and elected in the business portion of the gathering.
2012 officers are:
President, David Bohla
Vice President, Tom Richardson
Secretary-Treasurer, Jean Duning
The schedule of programs for the 2012 general membership meetings was also approved.
On June 25th Melissa Luthman, an Ohio Historical Society Civil War 150/AmeriCorps member and volunteer at the Logan County Museum, will describe “Logan County/Indian Lake Civil War History”.
July 23rd will be the ILAHS’s annual event “Picnic at the Old Post Office” at the restored Orchard Island Post Office located on Dredge Island between Orchard and Wolf Islands north of downtown Russells Point. Time yet to be determined.
On August 27th, ILAHS President Dave Bohla will describe his 40 years of “Ownership of Red Oak Island”.
September 24th will be the “Back-to-School Special – Indian Lake Roots”. The High Point Toastmasters Club will conduct a demonstration meeting of the Toastmaster Communication and Leadership Program using the history of Indian Lake.
October 22nd will mark “The 100th Anniversary of the 1913 flood”. It is requested that anyone with stories, photos, and other information relating to the disaster contact the ILAHS for possible inclusion in the program.
There will be no meetings in November and December because of holiday conflicts.
All meetings are held at Galilee Lutheran Church (pictured), 301 Lincoln Blvd., Russells Point, at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
