Area motorcyclist suffers extensive injuries

A local motorcyclist injured in a two-vehicle wreck on State Route 274 in western Logan County Wednesday morning remains in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

Stephen DeWeese, 53, of Sidney, was driving an '03 Harley-Davidson eastbound when he was struck by a westbound truck operated by Paul Kaszubowski, 46, of Southgate, Michigan.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Kaszubowski hit the motorcycle while attempting a left turn into Mid States Packaging.

DeWeese, who was not wearing his helmet, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.

Kaszubowski was cited for failure to yield.

He was not injured.
