The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities held their June meeting Thursday night. Superintendent Saul Bauer had two pieces of good news to share with the board.
A new SELF waiver program for children with developmental disabilities will become available July 1st. Ohio will provide 100 free waivers (one for Logan County). The waiver will provide individuals Medicaid that would not normally receive the service because their income is above the poverty line.
The second announcement concerned the discovery of billing errors. The billing agent used was incorrectly processing information supplied by the board. The corrections will increase adult day array revenues by $300,000 by the end of this year and $500,000 by the end of next year.

Karen Hesson-Brady, Director of Support Services presented to the board a detailed description of the function of her department and provided facts and figures that reinforce that support services in Logan County are not immune to the financial issues that plague most public service agencies. The number of enrollees that need financial support has grown from 407 in 2007 to 450 in 2012. Unfortunately, state funding has dropped from $162,000 in 2007 to $120,000 in 2011. Brady, however, felt that the needs of the enrollees were still being met.
Two staff retirements were announced. Instruction Assistant Cindy Jacobs retirement is effective June 30th. Don Oswald, Community Employment Specialist, retires July 31st.
The board won't meet in July. The next meeting is August 16th at 5:30.
