On Friday afternoon at 4:46 the Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Interstate 75 in Hancock County involving a local resident.
Ronald Alberding, 31, of Huntsville, was driving a 1998 Honda Accord northbound on I75 when a black BMW 325 operated by Kenneth Moore, 58, of Indianapolis, also traveling northbound on I75, struck Alberding in the rear.
As a result of the crash, Alberding lost control of the Honda and traveled into the median where it overturned, coming to rest on its side in the median.
The BMW continued down the median before coming to rest with minor damage.
Alberding was trapped inside the Honda due to the severe damage to the vehicle, requiring extraction by mechanical means.
Alberding was taken by Bluffton LifeFlight to Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo with severe injuries. He was released by Sunday morning.
Moore was not injured.
Road rage is being considered a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Findlay Post of the State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Medco EMS, Liberty Township Fire Department, Bluffton LifeFlight, and Dick’s Towing.
