The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Board of Education (pictured left) met to discuss contracts, the budget, and other topics Wednesday evening.
The board approved the evaluation of Treasurer Eric Adelsberger and also decided to renew his contract effective August 1st through July of 2017. Adelsberger says he is grateful for the extension of his contract.

A resolution was passed adopting an alternative make-up plan for calamity days. The state of Ohio allots five calamity days to schools. Once those are used up, schools must have a plan in place for students to make up any more days that are canceled.
Ohio Hi-Point’s plan will allow students to make up work online at home on the laptops the school provides, rather than come in to make up missed days over holidays, breaks, or at the end of the academic year. This plan will take effect after the school has used its five calamity days. Reames says this plan will benefit the school and the students.
In other business, the resignations of former cook Janet Canaday of Bellefontaine and diversified industrial technology instructor Mark Curtner of Sidney were approved. Canaday’s resignation took effect May 31st for the purpose of retirement. Curtner’s resignation will take effect Saturday. Curtner will be taking on a similar position at Clark State Community College.
Caleb Lang of Marysville was approved for hire as the High School Academics Student Services Supervisor. The hiring of Jonathan Henry of South Charleston as the High School Career Technical Education Supervisor was approved by the board as well. Ohio Hi-Point Superintendent Jeff Price says the hires are part of a re-organization effort to keep the school moving in the right direction.
