Arrest made in Moore's Cafe stick-up

The Bellefontaine Police Department quickly made an arrest for the armed robbery at a downtown bar over the weekend.

Preston Adkins (pictured), 34, of 316 East Auburn Avenue, Bellefontaine, entered Moore's Cafe, 111 South Detroit Street, brandished a handgun, and ordered an employee to remove money from the register Saturday morning around 9:30.

The employee, Bonnie Sharp, complied. Adkins reportedly took an undisclosed amount of cash, then grabbed Sharp's car keys on the bar and fled in her vehicle.

Police recovered the vehicle shortly afterwards at 304 Walnut Street.

Adkins called 911 from Walmart, 2281 South Main Street, Sunday morning around 12:30 and turned himself in. He was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated robbery.

No one was injured during the robbery.
