DJFS continues to dole out disaster benefits

The Governor has declared the State of Ohio to be a “disaster area” as a result of the high winds on June 29, 2012.  TANF and Non-TANF funds are available to provide one-time assistance for items/services requested due to loss resulting from wind damage on June 29, 2012 in Logan County.  The following are rules for the determination of eligibility for the Logan County Disaster Relief Program.

Families with minor children and/or pregnant individuals

Eligibility determined using the LOGAN County PRC plan dated October 11, 2011.     Disaster Relief protocol updated July 6, 2012.  Up to $500 per family dwelling and must be at or below 200% Federal Poverty Guideline. 

 Adults without minor children, nor pregnant

Applicants for Adult Disaster Assistance must be age 55 or over and have no minor children or be a disabled adult.  Disability is defined as receiving Supplemental Security Income(SSI), Social Security Disability, VA Disability, etc.  If you have sustained losses based upon the Wind Storm, June 29, 2012 and you are a LOGAN County resident you may qualify for a onetime payment from the Department of Job & Family Services.  The maximum amount of this payment is $250. 

 Applicants will be required to provide verification of loss, any insurance coverage and income for all household members for the past 30 days.  Your income must be below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline (see chart below).  Your income must be less than the amount listed.  Applicant must be a resident of LOGAN County.

Applications will be taken through July 20, 2012 or until available funds are exhausted. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.  The Director of the Logan County Department of Job & Family Services may change the deadline for application based upon availability of funds.
