Former Pedal Pull Champions Pequignot, Jordan reclaim titles (Audio included)

The Pedal Pull, or Kiddie Tractor Pull, was a highlight at the Logan County Fair on Wednesday for young children trying to get involved.

The pedal pull is divided into four classes. As the class levels advance, the weight the children must pull increases. On top of that, as kids near the finish line, the weight device adds weight to the child's tractor.

The goal is to obtain a "full pull." This is achieved by pedaling the tractor approximately 30 feet.

The kids who pedal the farthest are named the winners. If more than one child achieves the desired full pull, weight is added to the tractor and the kids must ride again.

In Class 1, Avery Pequignot of Huntsville (pictured left and top right) made a full pull, along with Megan Kimbler and Gavin Jordan. The trio pedaled again, and this time Pequignot came out on top with a pull of 28'10". Kimbler took second with a pull of 27'5". Third place went to Gavin Jordan, who achieved 26'8". Pequignot was the reigning champion for the class. It took him two full pulls last year to take home first place.

Listen to Avery Pequignot tell why the event is so difficult.

In Class 2, Chase Miller (pictured left) of West Mansfield and Brant Parsell (pictured right, with arms in air) made full pulls. The duo added weight to their tractors and raced again. Miller earned the win after a pull of 24'6". Parsell placed second with a new pull of 20'5". Simon Godwin took third, with a pull of 28'0" on his first try.

In Class 3, Ethan Jackson of DeGraff (pictured bottom left) was the sole competitor to achieve a full pull. He automatically received first, without having to add weight to his tractor. Chase Schaub pedaled to second place with a pull of 26'7". It took Blake Wish 26'4" to snag a third place finish.

In Class 4, two brothers from Bellefontaine took the lead after completing full pulls. During the rematch, Collin Jordan (pictured right, on left of photo) defeated his brother by obtaining a second full pull. He was the 2011 champion for the event. Dillon Jordan (pictured right, on right of photo) took second, after pulling the weight 27'10 in the rematch. Gavin Wish grabbed a third place finish with a pull of 27'1".
