Bailey Dickerson and Murphey Oberle requested the opportunity to show their Pygora goats. No awards were given in this category but the two contestents did have their goats judged. Dickerson and Oberle wrote about their Pygora goats, "Pygora goats are a registered breed created in the 1980's. They are a cross between an Angora goat and a Pygmy goat. They are smaller than an Angora, but larger than a Pygmy when full grown. The Pygora can come in any color. The Pygora is primarily used for its wonderful fiber. The fiber is fine and when spun into yarn creates very warm garments. The fiber stays fine for the entire life of the goat, unlike mohair that coarsens with age of an Angora goat. These goats can usually be sheared twice a year, in the spring and fall. The two goats showing today were sheared several months ago, but due to the extended hot weather we have had, their fiber has not grown back as fast as it usually does. Thank you for the opportunity to show these animals today in the Logan County Junior Fair Livestock Show."

For the 2013 Logan County Fair there has been talk of creating a Goat Obstacle Course. Some things would be needed to make this competition possible including four small livestock fans with streamers, a see-saw, a plastic oil barrel with the ends and top cut out, a log, and a goat stand with a ramp.

The obstacle course would work like this: First, the goat has to go through two fans with steamers, then walk across the see-saw, then walk through the barrel, jump across a log, and then you would walk your goat up the goat stand and put the goat's head in the head gate, and  then take the goat back down the ramp and run across the finish line between two more livestock fans with streamers. The fastest time wins!

If you are interested in seeing or participating in the goat obstacle course there is a form you can sign located on the cork board of the Jr. Fair Office by the Show Arena. Those who would run the goat obstacle course are looking to see how much interest there is in it so that they can decide whether or not to hold it in 2013. Signing the form does not bind you to anything.
