Beef and Dairy Obstacle Course is no obstacle for Rose (Audio included)

The Beef and Dairy Obstacle Course was a challenge for some and a breeze for others.

The course consisted of five stages. In stage 1, cattle had to step over an 8 foot railroad tie lying on the ground, followed by a rubber mat and an additional railroad tie. For stage 2, owners had to maneuver their cows through a series of fans, spaced about 6 feet apart. Station 3 required competitors to lead their cattle into a grooming chute and back out with minimal contact. The cow's head and ear had to go completely through the metal posts in order to earn full points. In stage 4, cattle had to maneuver through a series of gates approximately 3 to 4 feet apart. The gates included a series of 90 degree turns. Station 5 proved to be the most difficult for many cattle. This stage forced cows to step entirely into a trailer.

Each obstacle has an official that scores only that obstacle. The official gives the competitors a score of 0 to 10, with 10 being the best. Time is started when the contestant enters the show arena, and stops upon complete entrance of the cow into the trailer. Contestants have three tries or a maximum of 30 seconds to get through each obstacle until no score is kept for that obstacle. The participant then must move on to the next obstacle.

Scores are determined by multiplying the total number of points deducted on each obstacle by 4, adding up those points, and adding that number to the time, counting each point as one additional second. The competitor with the shortest time after the deductions are accounted for is the winner.

Top two placers receive trophies, and top five placers receive money. First place wins $15, second earns $10, and third through fifth place receive $5 a piece.
