City armed robber suffers broken leg

A city man suffered a broken leg moments after he committed an armed robbery at Village Pantry (Mad River Marathon), 200 East Sandusky Avenue, Monday morning around one o'clock.

Stephen Coe (pictured), 22, of 827 West Sandusky Avenue, Apt. 7, walked into the gas station armed with a BB gun and demanded cash.

The clerk complied and Coe fled southeast from the business.

He suffered a broken right leg while running away.

Coe was holding his leg when an officer found him in the rear of 216 East Sandusky Avenue.

Coe told the officer, "I just did something stupid. I just robbed a gas station."

Police recovered the weapon and returned the money to the gas station.

Coe was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.

After he was treated and released, Coe was charged with a felony count of aggravated robbery and lodged in the Logan County Jail.

No one was injured in the store during the robbery.
