The Logan County Historical Society's Board of Trustees continued planning for the transportation museum Thursday.
The state is currently reviewing the plans for the museum. Once the state approves the plans, the historical society hopes to submit the plans to ODOT as early as next week. After ODOT has reviewed the plans, the project can be put out to bid. The historical society hopes to break ground for the addition in September.
The society has been busy preparing the property for the new addition. Numerous trees were removed by Del-Mar Tree Service. The trees that were removed needed to go before construction could begin or were damaged from past storms.
The board touched on the damage the historical society sustained during the June 29th storm. The museum had a branch fall on its parking lot fence and a car. The society also lost power until Tuesday afternoon and phone service until Saturday, July 7th. The storm even caused some of the shingles on the roof to flip up, which were corrected by the following day's heat.
The board does plan to repair the museum’s roof in the near future. They have looked at a couple of bids, but no action has been taken.
Curator Todd McCormick comments about the project and storm damage.
The Logan County Historical Society is looking for addition donations for the transportation museum. Anyone interested may call the historical society at 593-7557.
The Board of Trustees will meet again on September 13th at 7 pm.
