Area man arrested for stealing scrap metal

A local man was arrested on multiple counts after he allegedly stole scrap metal from a Bellefontaine resident Thursday night around seven o'clock.

Calvin Dearwester (pictured), 51, at large, was taken into custody after a brief investigation by the Logan County Sheriff's Office.

Janet Beelman, 68, of 302 County Road 11, contacted deputies after she saw a vehicle loaded with scrap metal pull from her driveway.

Beelman followed the vehicle to D & J Scrap Metal, 621 Plumvalley Street.

Deputies found Dearwester at 218 Oakland Square around eleven p.m.

He was charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal trespass, then lodged in the Logan County Jail.

The stolen scrap metal was worth $42.
