“All students need school supplies,” said Jim Donnelly, Executive Director, United Way of Logan County“ and with the beginning of school only weeks away many families are trying to figure out how to fit these needs into their budget. Money doesn’t stretch as far as it used to, and many families in our community are struggling just to pay their rent, to buy food, and to pay for gas. So the United Way of Logan County decided to sponsor “Stuff the Bus” in an effort to collect school supplies for children in our community.”
On Saturday, August 11, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., a school bus courtesy of Bellefontaine City Schools will be parked in the city lot at the corner of South Detroit Street and West Chillicothe Ave. at the Logan County Farmers Market,. A group of volunteers from the United Way of Logan County will be present to accept donations for this important event.
In support of the United Way of Logan County’s efforts, Community Markets, the Education Station, Krogers, First Lutheran Church, Logan County Farmers Market, RiteAid, the Hilliker YMCA and the United Way of Logan County office will have drop-off boxes available from Monday July 30th through Saturday August 11th, for shoppers to leave their donated items.
Shoppers are encouraged to pick up extra folders, binders, pens, pencils, crayons, paper, theme books etc. and help the United Way of Logan County “Stuff the Bus”!
“This is a neat and easy way to help our students and we emphasize that all of the school supplies collected will be used locally and shared equally among our city and county schools,” Donnelly said. With the help and support of the entire community our students will be able to start the new school year with the supplies they need.
Come help us “Stuff the Bus”! You can make the start of this school year easier for our students and their families.”
If you cannot make it to one of the drop-off locations or to our August 11th event, the United Way of Logan County is also accepting monetary donations to help purchase school supplies for students in need. Donations can be mailed to United Way of Logan County , 130 S Main Street, Suite 109, Bellefontaine, OH 43311 with Stuff the Bus noted with your donation.
