Two appeared in front of Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark O’ Connor Wednesday. Both pleaded guilty to their charges.
Chad Pulfer, 37, of Bellefontaine pleaded guilty to a vehicular homicide charge related to the fatal crash that killed Amish schoolteacher Martha Miller back in December.
Pulfer was indicted in March for failure to stop after an accident (F3) and vehicular homicide (M1).
Martha Miller, 40, of 3383 Township Road 108, Huntsville, was struck and killed while riding a bicycle westbound on County Road 101 near County Road 49 just after six p.m.
Pulfer was reportedly driving a westbound Chevy pickup that struck Miller and fled the scene of the accident.
She was wearing a reflective vest and had an activated flashing red light on the back of her bicycle.
Logan County Coroner Dr. Michael Failor pronounced Miller dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office located Pulfer's vehicle in Lakeview three days after the accident.
Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and sent evidence to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in nearby London.
Pulfer is scheduled for sentencing on September 4.
Mica Turnmire Hawkins, 42, of Lakeview pleaded guilty to possession of drugs.
Presentence investigations were ordered and sentencing is scheduled for September 4.
