The Logan County Fair Board met Wednesday evening, their first meeting since last month's fair.
Board President Skip Jackson commented that the weather was great and that attendance was average. Jackson also felt that the new veterinarian checks conducted on animals arriving at the fair went well. One thing people really enjoyed was the fireworks. More fair statistics will be available at the September meeting.
Some concerns were brought up to the board. The first concern was bringing animals to the fair. The animals were brought into the fair on Sunday and were not weighed until Monday. The fair does have weight restrictions, meaning that if a hog is underweight it cannot be shown and must be taken home. The fair board plans to have weighing done upon arrival next year to eliminate the concern.
Another concern was the loading up of animals on Saturday. On Saturday night, people were supposed to start picking up animals after midnight, but some were picking up livestock as early as 9 pm due to a miscommunication.
The board feels that all the concerns can be remedied and will send them to committee before bringing them back to the board at a later time.
Jackson comments on the meeting.
The Logan County Fair Board will meet again on September 12th at 7:30 pm.
