A local man was killed in a tree-trimming accident in rural Auglaize County over the weekend.
Carl Cummins, 44, of Waynesfield, was part of a tree-trimming crew working at a residence southeast of Wapakoneta on Pusheta Road. While standing on the ground near a bucket truck, a tree unexpectedly fell and struck Cummins Saturday afternoon around four o'clock.
St. Johns Rescue Squad transported Cummins to Lima Memorial Hospital. He passed away at the hospital.
The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
Sheriff Al Solomon said, "This appears to be an unfortunate accident and nothing appears to be suspicious at this point but the investigation is continuing."
