The inmate who escaped from the Logan County Jail Tuesday morning has been captured and taken into custody.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Springfield Police Division found and arrested Joseph L. Knox, 36, at an area motel around 6:30 Wednesday evening.
Knox, who was possibly armed, is being held on a felony escape charge in the Clark County Jail. Authorities say he may also be responsible for two local burglaries that occurred Tuesday evening.
The escapee was working in the jail garden when he fled around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Logan and Champaign County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the West Liberty Police Department say they will continue to investigate the incident.
